Paramedic School
Staff Captain Mike Ellis leads the Chief and Company Officer training. Officer training includes the periodic Professional Development Series where officers meet together to review current issues, department procedures, and educational opportunities. Officer Candidate Schools (OCS) are 80 hours in length and required for all Chief Officers, Captains, and Lieutenants. Officer Candidate schools provide personnel with the necessary essential job knowledge and skills to effectively operate in their new supervisory position.
Staff Captain Douglas Watson leads the Driver Operator training. Driver Candidate School provides the basic fundamental knowledge and skills to operate fire department pumping apparatus. Additional training is provided to personnel assigned to specialized apparatus within the department to include 24 and 64 Hour Quint classes, Light/Air Orientation, Tender Orientation, and new apparatus orientation. Specialized defensive driving classes for emergency vehicle drivers are also provided to department personnel. Staff Captain Lee Forshner leads the Firefighter training.
