Best Blank Dvd

Best Blank Dvd

Most people say that Taiyo Yuden blanks are the very best as long as you don't buy the "economy" version. I've had great success with the higher-end Verbatim DVD-R as well.
Taiyo Yuden used to be the industry standard but since they have been taken over by JVC, their quality is terrible. I used to be able to burn 8X rated TY DVD-R discs at 16X and get an overall quality score of 99.2 to 99.3 with DVD Info Pro. I just opened my first spindle of the JVC-Taiyo Yuden DVD-Rs. The first thing I noticed is that the media will not allow burning at a speed greater than 12X. Then I tried burning the same disk 3 times, once at 12X, 8X and 4X. The quality score of all three DVDs was 96 or less (marginal to poor). Until JVC butts out and lets Taiyo Yuden do what they do best, I'll be switching to Verbatim as that is the only other brand I have had good luck with of late.By the way, these are the 'premium' blanks, not the value line...
