Celtic Thunder

Celtic Thunder is the name of two different music groups. The Celtic Thunder band should not be confused with the PBS TV production (and related CD/DVD) of 2008, which features a variety of commercial Irish and non-Irish material sung by an assortment of vocalists and others, and who also calls itself "Celtic Thunder. "The group known for its specials on PBS is a singing group composed of soloists who perform both solo and ensemble numbers. Celtic Thunder debuted in August 2007 at The Helix in Dublin, Ireland. They are accompanied by the Celtic Concert Orchestra under the direction of Phil Coulter, the musical director of the group. Since the group's formation, Celtic Thunder has released eight albums: Celtic Thunder, Act Two, Take Me Home, It's Entertainment, Christmas, Heritage, Storm, and Voyage as well as eight live performances on DVD entitled Celtic Thunder: The Show, Take Me Home, It's Entertainment!, Christmas, Heritage, Storm, Voyage and Voyage II

The Weather Channel

The Weather Channel has announced a new interactive TV weather application, based on open standards, in partnership with Alticast. The application provides updated weather information as an interactive overlay on the live broadcast. Options available include current conditions, outlook, five-day planner, weekend planner and Doppler radar for the locality and the region, with weather information also available for other selected cities, together with lifestyle features such as allergy information, the UV Index and an Almanac.
The Weather Channel Application is designed for OCAP and MHP open standard platforms and has been successfully integrated with Alticast middleware.
OCAP, the OpenCable Applications Platform, is based on the Multimedia Home Platform and is being adopted by cable television networks in the United States. “The Weather Channel has long believed in the future of interactive TV,” said Chuck Herring, who is responsible for the Weatherscan local weather network which is available in around 7 million households in the United States.

Hurricane Isaac

Hurricane Isaac was a slow-moving tropical cyclone that caused severe destruction along the northern Gulf Coast of the United States in late-August 2012. Prior to becoming a hurricane, Isaac attained one of the lowest barometric pressure measurements, on August 28, for any storm below hurricane strength, with a pressure of 976 mbar (hPa).[1] The ninth tropical cyclone, ninth named storm, and fourth hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, Isaac developed from a tropical wave located east of the Lesser Antilles on August 21, strengthening into a tropical storm later that day. Isaac passed over Hispaniola and Cuba as a strong tropical storm, killing at least 34 people in Hispaniola, before it entered the Gulf of Mexico.

Nicolet is a public community college serving Northern Wisconsin from its Lake Julia Campus on Lake Julia south of Rhinelander, from the Lakeland Campus in Minocqua, and from other instruction centers located within the Nicolet District. The College offers one- and two-year career diplomas and degrees, liberal arts university transfer studies, and a comprehensive continuing education program.

Nicolet Area Technical College (also Nicolet College) is a technical (community) college in Rhinelander Wisconsin area. It is a member of the 16 schools in the Wisconsin Technical College System.
The college offers a University Transfer program where students complete the first two years of a bachelor’s degree at Nicolet and then transfer to a four-year college or university. Many Nicolet University Transfer graduates transfer into the University of Wisconsin System.[citation needed]

Bluetooth Stereo Receiver

In our quest for losing any and all possible wires, we stumbled upon this cool little gadget, a way to transmit my music wirelessly from my Treo 755p. The search revealed several options to choose from. I, of course, opted for the cheapest I could find - the Jensen Universal Bluetooth Stereo Receiver ($9.97 from Amazon.com.) Those who have a 755p know that A2DP does not come standard. (Bad Palm, bad. But that’s another topic for another day.) But with the help of the Softick Audio Gateway, voila, streaming Bluetooth. The Receiver did not come with the highest reviews, but I figured for less than $20 with shipping, I’d bite. It turns out it was better than I expected. Much better.
Out of the box you get everything that you would need to get up and running - audio cables, mini-manual, and power adapter. And of course, the Bluetooth Receiver. Setup was straightforward. After a couple of attempts, I was able to pair the receiver and the phone.
