Weather forecasting is the application of science and technology to predict the state of the atmosphere for a given location. Human beings have attempted to predict the weather informally for millennia, and formally since the nineteenth century. Weather forecasts are made by collecting quantitative data about the current state of the atmosphere and using scientific understanding of atmospheric processes to project how the atmosphere will evolve. Once an all-human endeavor based mainly upon changes in barometric pressure, current weather conditions, and sky condition, weather forecasting now relies on computer-based models that take many atmospheric factors into account. Human input is still required to pick the best possible forecast model to base the forecast upon, which involves pattern recognition skills, teleconnections, knowledge of model performance, and knowledge of model biases. The chaotic nature of the atmosphere, the massive computational power required to solve the equations that describe the atmosphere, error involved in measuring the initial conditions, and an incomplete understanding of atmospheric processes mean that forecasts become less accurate as the difference in current time and the time for which the forecast is being made (the range of the forecast) increases.

Barometric pressure therapy is a medical treatment. Artificial pressure elevation has been around for decades. It was first used to treat divers who were exposed to high pressure when submerged for long periods of time, resulting in a medical condition called the bends. Later, hyperbaric pressure chambers (typically at 150% to 300% elevated pressure) were developed to treat individuals with mountain sickness and, even later, used to promote wound healing. Only over the past 15 years has hyperbarics been used to treat a variety of other medical disorders.t first thought, you might expect the air of the atmosphere to distribute itself uniformly over the surface of the earth so that the barometric pressure at the same elevation would be the same everywhere. After all, the water in a pond or lake "seeks its own level," and, except for the tides, the water in the oceans does as well. But this is not the case with the atmosphere. Several factors, among them the rotation of the earth and the uneven heating of the earth's surface by the sun, come together to cause the air to seemingly slosh about so that at some places it is piled up deeper than at other places.

The climate in The Bahamas consists of just two seasons. Summer is from May through October when rainfall is fairly high. Winter is from November through April. Expect little rain and therefore low humidity.
Rain mainly comes in short-lived, intense showers accompanied by strong winds which are then followed by clear skies. The official hurricane season runs from June to November. But... The probability of hurricanes striking the Bahamas in June, July and August is relatively low. All hurricanes we have gone through from 1997 to 2010 occurred in September/October, with one in early November.
Don't think of the Bahamas as just a winter destination because... The Summer months are ideal for a vacation, too. The ocean is warm and most of the time it's calm. The cloud formations are often awe-inspiring. Really spectacular! The colors of the sky and water are intense and beautiful. It's an ideal time for snorkeling and swimming. Just make sure to rent an air-conditioned house.
Winters - November through May - are pleasantly warm. Cold fronts sometimes bring strong winds from the north, a bit of rain, and lower temperatures, particularly from mid-January through February.

Boces

Boces is the second album by Mercury Rev, released in 1993. The band has explained the title as being inspired by the name of the Boards of Cooperative Educational Services in New York State, a vocational school system in the band's home state. During the tour (on Lollapalooza) for this album, the band were forced off the stage for being too loud and noisy; according to legend, their soundman was taken away in a headlock. The video for "Something for Joey" features black and white images of children in spacesuits juxtaposed with phallic images of rockets, and a bizarre plot involving Mercury Rev playing the song on a spaceship filled with naked women, while Ron Jeremy and another porn star play a sex god and goddess, respectively. Apparently, the parents of the children in the black and white shots were not told what the other images would be in the video, and were extremely upset to find out, forcing the director to re-edit the original video.[citation needed] Since the late 1990s, Mercury Rev have very rarely (if ever) performed songs from Boces, as the songs remind the band of the turbulent circumstances surrounding its recording.

Bermuda is more frequently hit by hurricanes than many of the Caribbean islands to its south.
